What is the correct way to use quotations?

Darrin Hixenbaugh: You shouldn't use a period there. The correct usage is: "Of course not," she said.Note that the comma goes before the quotation mark.

Ollie Desalvo: It would be: "Of course not," she answered. And you do need to start a new line after every sentence in a conversation. Indenting depends on the purpose of what you've written.
