What are the best areas in Dublin to live that are on the LUAS Green Line? -Sandyford, Stillorgan, Dundrum etc?

Francis Stickle: Ranelagh is really nice like the prev answer said. Lots of nice restaurants, cafes, some pubs, supermarket...Rathmines is only 10mins walk and that has plenty more restaurants and pubs too. You could even walk to town from Ranelagh - in maybe about 20mins. It is expensive but thats because its so nice.Dundrum is nice too but a bit less going on the Ranelagh. It has a cinema, some pubs, less restaurants than Ranelagh mind...but you can always hop on the luas to go somewhere new to eat anyway.Milltown and Windy Arbour are quieter but nice, clean areas. Cowper is nice as well and pretty much next to Ranelagh and Rathmines. The houses look huge and very nice so i'd imagine quiet expensive here too.Charlemont is on the canal, and close to town. There is apartments around there, i dont know about price. Might be a bit noisy tho cos if the traffic....Show more

Sammy Hatzenbihler: Hi, I'd agree with the others that Ranelagh is a god bet but Dundrum is very g! ood too as you have the Dundrum Town Centre (largest shopping mall in Ireland and apparently Europe) there and it's a lovely area in terms of scenary. The Stillorgan stop is a bit misleading as it's not very near the village and there's not a lot to do there but it is handy for town....Show more

Tyree Allenbrand: I reckon Ranelagh. it's a little town by itself, has plenty of good restaurants, cafes, pubs etc and a few designer shops.plus its literally 5 minutes to stephens green on the luas where you can do all the shopping you can handle.many people will say Dundrum, but it's only got a shopping mall and not much else.and it's one of the most expensive places to shop in Dublin. Windy Arbour is fairly quiet, it has a large contingent of old folks living there.but if I had the money I'd pick Ranelagh, even though it will probably cost the most out of all the places you mentioned to live in....Show more

Arlene Maycumber: Most areas are ok, some nice ones that I kno! w of are: Southside: Donnybrook, Rathmines, Ranelagh, Terenure! , Rathgar, Ballsbridge, Stillorgan, Clonskeagh. Northside: Drumcondra, Glasnevin, Fairview, Santry. Sorry, I've only ever lived on the southside so I don't know the northside that well. But as someone else suggested, a good idea would be to look at www.daft.ie to get a good feel for the areas. There's no one place that jumps out at me as being rough or dodgy - obviously, parts of the city centre can have hassles due to the large concentration of pubs and clubs there, but I've never personally heard of any problems there. Make sure wherever you look has good transport links - rush hour in Dublin can be a nightmare!...Show more
