Tomeka Hameen: gardening is a learning experience for life . spray your plants with Epsom salts in water ,it contains minerals , when watering, soak the soil and not the plants . we all make mistakes
Bud Espenshade: I am 66, I have been gardening over 30 years. I have killed a lot before I knew what I was doing. DO NOT FEEL BAD! It's not like you were babysitting your brother and he died or something. They are plants and I think it stinks that your family is not helping you to learn how to take care of them. You did what everyone on Earth does, you thought plants are fish and watered too much. Believe me I have plants in tiny 3oz cups in 90 degree weather and I water them every 2 or 3 days and they live just fine. Plants are stronger than you think. 1" of water a week. Water in the morning and don't water the leaves, water the soil. Because the fungus got a hold it will infect everything. You best hope is to let it all dry out good and hope some plants s! urvive. I remember the first time I fertilized the grass and it got all burnt because I used too much. It happens to all of us, we are not born with the knowledge, we must learn. If you family gives you grief then ask them why they didn't tell you that you were watering too much....Show more
Dewey Heersink: Take samples of the problem leaves/stems/etc and zip them up in plastic bags. Bring them to your local privately-owned nursery the same day you collect the samples. A privately owned nursery will likely have employees who are gardening experts and not just minimum wage employees who like plants. (Larger chain stores rarely have gardening experts on staff.) Anyhow, the employees will happily answer your questions for free (and possibly offer to sell you a remedy).Alternatively, you can call the Agricultural Extension Office for your state. They usually have Master Gardeners or other experts who will identify the problem for you, too (for free). One more though! t: Are you watering overhead? And what time of day? When yo! u water, try to wet the soil UNDER the plant, NOT the leaves. For instance, let the hose lie in the bed and soak the soil so it can travel to the plants' roots. If you must get the leaves wet, try to water early in the day so that plant can dry out. This will help prevent fungus. And remember...life is about learning. We learn as we go. If some plants die your first year you'll learn from the experience and hopefully less plants will die the second year and so on.Enjoy! :)...Show more
