Madie Strople: You probably want to major in Communication, although you should check out some business schools as well for special programs. Advertising is not often used in collegespeak, so look for PR, marketing, or strategic communication. I don't know the top advert programs except for UTexas-Austin, but some of the top Comm schools are Ohio State University, Stanford University, and UPenn. You can check program ratings through the National Communication Association (the _US News & World Report_ rankings are totally worthless, and many colleges opt not to participate in them)--but I think there are much more important things than ranking.Keep in mind, though, some college rankings are often based on how "famous" the faculty are, how much the faculty publish, reputation of the school, etc.-- they are designed more for the colleges themselves than for students, so do not rely on rankings to make your decision. I can tell you from experience that going to a top-ranked s! chool does not mean you are getting the best education. More important for you would be high teaching evaluations in the school, class offerings that interest you, opportunities for internships, and job placement for graduates--so I advise researching those things on your own and making a decision that way rather than what some arbitrary rankings system says is best....Show more
